This report card follows two things you can check for every legislator: the money they take from that industry, and how they act on HOA bills. Then we grade the record.

Weigh it. The dollar amount of industry money pulls a grade down; a real homeowner-protection record pulls it up and offsets the money. The grade is labeled opinion, sitting on the sourced facts.

Nonpartisan. We don’t care what party a legislator is from — only whether they work for the homeowner or for the people making money off them; both parties take the money, and our grades ding both.
