In plain English: The protections and rights this chapter gives you generally cannot be signed away or watered down by agreement, except where the chapter itself specifically allows it. No one may use a workaround or 'device' to get around the limits and prohibitions the law sets. This helps keep the statute's baseline protections in place for unit owners.
Except as expressly provided in this chapter, the provisions of this chapter shall not be varied by agreement and rights conferred by this chapter shall not be waived. A person shall not use any device to evade the limitations or prohibitions of this chapter.
